Helping to end overpopulation, abuse, and neglect...one dog at a time

Happy Tails

Flo was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Georgia. Luckily, Brother Wolf Canine Rescue asked the shelter to physically check to be sure, because they had been told she had already been euthanized. BWCR named her Flo, because she is so laid back and just "goes with the flow."

My friend pointed out that I seemed to like the dogs of the guys more than the guys I had been dating. I began pondering the possibility of adopting a dog. Maturity, along with the ability to get along ith my puffball cats, was in order. Flo's descriptions and pictures were on Craigslist. I kept going back and reading about her and lookin gat those long floppy ears and mournful eyes. When Flo and I met, she was with a pack of other BWCR foster dogs. After giving them all some love, I turned and walked away. She was the only dog that followed. Next thing I knew, we were alone relaxing together as I filled out the adoption application. Upon my exit of the BWCR foster house, she did her best to leave with me then and there.

After hearing about Flo's story of narrowly escaping with her life, I decided she needed a special sanskrit name - Raksita, which means "protected, rescued." She quickly became well adjusted to her new life of being snuggled, pampered and saying hello to all the neighborhood folk, kids, dogs, and cats. In fact, two cats from homes along our route come running to greet her! She has enriched my life in ways I would have never imagined, an dhas even won over a few people who claim they aren't dog lovers. Some may say RakSita Flo
Bella is quite a name for a hound dog, but she's an amazing creature who deserves a name as special as she is.    --- Tamara,  Asheville NC

Doc was rescued from a high-kill shelter south of Asheville that still uses the gas chamber as a means of euthanasia. We pulled him just in the nick of time! When Doc arrived at Brother Wolf Canine Rescue, he had heartworms. After spending many hundreds of dollars for his treatment and many months in foster care, with great restrictions, a healthy Doc was placed for adoption. He was very
lucky to be adopted by a family who loves him very much!

"Doc is, without a doubt, the best companion anyone could imagine! Joining us earlier in the year, he's been a resident for almost 10 months, and "it" just keeps getting better! Our lives are enriched and more joyful since his arrival and his 6 female feline "sisters" agree! 4 of the 6 absolutely adore him! And Doc is patient and attentive - even allows them to share his dinner (almost unheard of).
Imagine?! Attached photo is Doc with his Daddy sharing some morning sunshine. Life is GOOOOD with our Doc!"

Quincy, and her mother Piper, were rescued from a high kill shelter in Georgia, a day before they were scheduled to be euthanized. In March 2007, Quincy was adopted by a wonderful family in Tennessee.

(Quincy, when she first arrived at BWCR)

"My first dog, Mason, had been dumped in the country and wound up on my door step. After 2 wonderful years, I realized Mason, an 85 pound Lab mix, acted more like my cats than a dog. I then decided that my puppy needed a puppy. I began searching through local rescue society pages and happened to find Quincy. She had the most adorable face, and like many of the animals, a sad story to go along with it. After visiting her, I decided she'd make a great addition to our family. Now Quincy has a happy, forever home, and Mason is acting like a dog!" ---- Katie Duval, Quincy's mom

Yogi Montana was found abandoned at trash dump. A nice person took him in, then contacted Brother Wolf Canine Rescue. After arriving at our organization, Yogi was adopted by a wonderful couple who had recently lost their dog (and almost their own lives) in a fatal car crash.

"Here are some photos of Yogi Montana. He is very happy... full of energy, but gets wiped out after about a mile walk...he sits and stays for all his meals...he is such a daaaaling and a cuddle bug!!! He goes to the vet for a booster this Friday. He loves his food. He loves chasing the squirrels off the front porch. He was very excited to ride with Quinn to Virginia..
he's been to Shindig on the Green, Orbit Video store lots of times, many walks at Carrier Park, my neice's 2nd birthday party...and we are going to start puppy classes this month hopefully! WE love this 'lil (big) guy! Take care, and talk to you soon! ---- Jess, Ian, and Yogi

"I want to thank you for adding this wonderful guy to my life. He's finished doggie school and did great - much better than I did. He's housebroken and understands most commands. He's become as beautiful as you will see in the pictures. We're both very happy roaming
around the farm. Clancy knows what his boundaries are off leash, runs wildly up and down the creek at top speed,  has plenty of room for the many holes that he digs after ferocious dinosaur moles, and is about 35 pounds now.

You do a really good job, and I have told a bunch of people about you and your group. Your reward of putting a lost little guy in a home where he is loved, cherished, and happy, has hit the mark here. Thank you again!
