Helping to end overpopulation, abuse, and neglect...one dog at a time

"I first found Brother Wolf Canine Rescue online, while doing some research into adopting another dog. I was impressed by the extent of the screening process. It was obvious that this organization was making sure that their animals were being placed in loving, safe, responsible homes.
I went to foster mom Flo's house to play with one of the many pups that I saw online. When I got there, I saw this little brindley fellow in the back of the pack. He wasn't jumping all over me like the others, but the well-mannered look that he was giving me said, "I'd like you to take me home with you, please."
I introduced Hobie to my other dog Marlee, who had been waiting in the car. She's very hyper, so it was essential to find a good personality match. She immediately took on the big sister role. They smelled each other for a while. He took her bone. Then she wandered off towards the other dogs. Yep, this mellow little fellow was going to be part of our family. Within a few days, Hobie could walk on a leash, sit on command, ask to go outside, and give me his paw. He's so eager to please and to learn. Hobie's been with us close to 2 months now. He's brought much love into my life.
I adore watching both dogs enjoying each other - wrestling, racing through the house, Marlee protectively watching Hobie play with the other dogs in the neighborhood, Hobie always either climbing on his big sister, sleeping on her, or following her around.
Brother Wolf Canine Rescue is an amazing organization that has what it takes to make sure that homeless dogs don't end up back in the shelter after they grow out of their cute puppy stage. Thank you for everything!

Lucky and his brother came to Brother Wolf Canine Rescue from a shelter in Georgia, just a day before they were scheduled to be euthanized. Lucky spent several weeks living in a foster home, and was then adopted by a fabulous family who lives in Charlotte.
Here is what Lucky's (who is now named Boone) new family has to say: "It was July of 2007. I was ready to bring another canine into the family. While in Asheville one weekend, the cover of "Critter" magazine caught my eye as the cutest, sweetest, most PERFECT little guy was gracing its cover. I called and was overjoyed to find out that he was still available!! At first sight I knew that he was "the one"...such a little honey. Lenny, our German Shepherd, that was for years a member of a 3 dog pack, had been without a canine sibling for a few months and his health was starting to deteriorate. Boone came into our home and fit right in without missing a beat...one week later we went on our first family camping trip (2 dogs and 2 little girls who were going on 1 and 3 years old) and Boone did GREAT in the car, GREAT on the drive, GREAT at the campsite - it was incredible!! I have to attribute a lot of his demeanor to his obvious loving foster care provided by Flo and her family. The biggest impact Boone has had in our family has been on Lenny; prior to Boone's arrival, Lenny had begun that descent into older aged German Shepherd wobbliness. Now Lenny is chasing Boone around the back yard like he is a puppy again! Boone is the best medicine we could have EVER gotten for Lenny, and was the missing piece our family needed. Brother Wolf Canine Rescue is a top notch rescue organization and I look forward to spreading their name." ---- Deidra, Eddie, Lyric, Melody, Lenny & Boone
Obviously, a large part of his demeanor is attributible to his foster family :)

A happy ending for all!
And a very different ending
for Lucky, who started out
in that shelter in Georgia!

In January of 2007, Brother Wolf Canine Rescue rescued Lexi, Nemo, and Merlin from an outdoor pen. They were living outdoors, in the cold and snow. Here is what Lexi's owner has to say:
"Lexi was 5 months old when I got her. She jumped right into my lap when we first met, and I knew then that she was my "soul" dog. She already got along great with other dogs because she was in a foster home for a few months before I got her. She is so smart and it took only one or two mistakes for her to understand to use the bathroom outside, she has learned several tricks, and ever since I taught her to speak, she talks to me when she wants to eat, go out to play, and when she realizes she is getting close to home or close to one of her "doggie" friends' houses. Lexi is definitely the smartest and most obediant dog I have ever had. She is an awsome trail-running and hiking partner. She instantly learned to stay near me at all times and is amazing off-leash. When Lexi turned 1 year old, I took her for Therapy Dog Certification, and she passed with flying colors. She now goes to work with me and the kids love her! She is a great snuggler and I love waking up to her puppy kisses! I am so grateful to Brother Wolf for rescuing Lexi because I can't imagine her not being with me! --- Kristy, Asheville NC
